On the last day of my business trip, I had the opportunity to meet Ms. Yamazaki, head of JETRO Bucharest, thanks to an introduction from Bogdan, CEO of Wise Finance Solutions. Despite the short notice, the discussion provided valuable insights into Japan’s engagement with Romania’s growing IT sector.
Romania is rapidly becoming an IT hub, with BOSCH and Continental driving digital transformation (DX) initiatives. BMW Group is also leveraging NTT Data Romania’s expertise in agile software development to expand its global IT network.
One key takeaway was the fierce global competition for IT talent. Skilled professionals are being secured at a rapid pace, while Japan is still debating how to supplement its domestic IT workforce. This trip reinforced my belief that Japan must look beyond its borders to attract top talent.
At the same time, I confirmed that many Central and Eastern European companies are eager to work with Japan. Strengthening these connections remains a priority, and I am committed to fostering collaboration between Japan and the region.
